THE HUNTER.  (1980)

McQueen plays a modern day Bounty Hunter - hired to bring back to justice those who jump bail or break bond. When chasing two such characters he has a brand-new hire car stolen by them. He takes chase in a combine-harvester and they cheerfully chuck sticks of dynamite at him.

Short version of the 6 reel cut-down we reviewed in issue No. 1 omitting the French Connection style train chase. Besides the combine harvester sequence, the car smashing-chase, in the high-rise car park is included. The extract concludes with McQueen's girl friend being taken hostage, and him freeing her - getting her to the hospital just in time to have her baby - in the car outside.

No real attempt has been made to make this a cut-down of the complete film, it is as states on the box 'selected' scenes, and as such works well, and even if you haven't seen the feature it's not difficult to follow, I don't care what others may think, I quite enjoyed it! A nice souvenir of McQueens last film.

The print is not as good as the 6 reeler, being another stage removed, the contrast is a little higher, and the sharpness and colour less good, but still better than some prints I've seen recently.
