THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN

Grant Williams
Directed by: Jack Arnold

A strange sea mist causes a man to gradually shrink. He loses weight and finds his clothes too large.

Reduced to one inch in size he is attacked by the pet cat. His wife accidentally knocks him down into the cellar where he has to kill a spider with a pin.

When a leaking water heater bursts and causes a flood he has to cling to a floating pencil to avoid being sucked down a drain.

His wife drives away, believing him to be dead. The first third of this reel is identical to the Universal 8 two-reel version, but the cat and spider sequences are considerably shorter.

The last third of this reel is, however, unique to this version, and a more satisfying condensation of the film can be obtained by cutting it into the two-reeler.

However most of the two-reelers had a higher contrast than this short version, so some collectors may prefer to keep this as a separate item. Either way it's well worth having.
