From the best
selling book by McNally and Florescu about the man upon whom the legends are based. Yes,
there really was a Dracula. The legend of Count Dracula, the vampire who slept in a coffin
by day and sunk his teeth into pretty, young necks by night, is based on a real person.
The deeds of real men are often more disturbing than those of fictional characters. And so
it is with Dracula, a Romanian prince who lived five centuries ago. The real Dracula was
like a vampire. He was responsible for torturing and killing at least 100,000 people,
usually by impalement, sitting his victims on sharpened spikes. He was also called
"Vlad, the Impaler," and he ruled the province of Wallachia, now part of
Romania. Most historical documents refer to him as "Dracula" which means "son of the
devil." And like the living corpse immortalized by Bram Stoker's novel, the real
Dracula lived in a musty, mountaintop castle from which he terrorized the surrounding
countryside. The real castle is seen for the first time, as well as the Borgo Pass,
entrance to the castle. Also shown for the first time are vampire bats drinking real
blood, and vampire exorcism rites.
This is an old release from Derann, I don't think new prints are available anymore
