1982 - d. Tobe Hooper
An intriguing trailer of the recent Spielberg production which follows almost exactly the same format as the excellent "Close Encounters" trailer.
We are introduced to the experts on the paranormal who discuss various aspects of poltergeist phenomena. These interviews are intercut with stills from the film which culminate in one (and only) very brief but tantalizing live action scene.
The whole package is tied together by the usual deep-voiced narrator that has become so typical of American trailers.
In some ways it is surprising that a more original format wasn't chosen rather than a re-hash of the "Close Encounters" trailer, bit having said that, the overall effect is a well-produced, gripping and compelling trailer that really does make you want to see the full feature perhaps on 8mm one day?).
A good example of trailer craft with excellent picture and sound quality that's well worth having.
