Burt Reynolds and Co. are back in action again escorting an elephant from Miami to Dallas.
Part one starts with the Bandit and gang being hired for the job, but not knowing what the cargo is to be. When they arrive at the depot they find a very large crate containing a very big elephant.
Later during the journey when the elephant (Charlotte) becomes sick, they discover that she is pregnant, in the meantime, they have picked up their old adversary Sheriff Buford T Justice (Gleason) and his idiot son, and part one concludes with these two demolishing a roller-coaster ride with their car.
In part two the bandit has trouble with his pals when the elephant is too sick to be moved, bandit insists that they continue and his girl walks out on him, disgusted with his lack of concern for Charlotte.
When the bandit continues with the trip he finds he has run slap into a trap set by Buford T. Justice and fifty police cars! The bandit is rescued however by a gang of truckers (about fifty again) who smash the police cars with their huge waggons. The elephant has it baby, the bandit relents and changes his mind about going on, and his girl comes back to him again. Spectacular stunts and very entertaining
