SONGS AND SADDLES

Gene Austin	Gene Austin
Lynne Berkeley	Carol Turner
Henry Roquemore	Jed Hill

Directed by Harry L. Fraser (as Harry Fraser)

Radio and recording star Gene Austin saves the community from crooked land-grabbers wanting to build a highway through the ranches.

I don't know just how many 'songs and saddles' there were in the uncut 65 minute version, the saddles remain, but not a great deal of the song.

This is one of those curious 'B' westerns that mixes contempory America with the old mythical west - cars, horse, radio stars, mobile radio-stations and old style shoot-ups.

I don't recall ever having seen Gene Austin before but he's a little less plump than Ken Maynard.

This 2 reeler is full of action and skullduggery. The print quality is first-rate. Even better than 'Death Rides The Range', and I presume that the third title that Derann have released 'Flaming Lead , (Maynard again) is of similar quality. Well done Ranks.

Complete with original (presumably complete) front and end credits, as are the two Maynard pictures.

In addition to the 'Colony' credit, 'Songs And Saddles' has an additional 'Road Show Productions' title.

Another film for the collection of the 'B' western collectors.
