UNDERWATER

Made in 1953, but not released until 1955, this is a typical Howard Hughes 'hype' - according to this trailer the film cost S3,000,000, and took 3 years to make, and I think these figures (unlike Jane Russell's) should be treated suspicion, likewise the narrators claim, "See Jane Russell Underwater - As You Have Never Seen Her Before". Well that's perfectly true, as all the underwater scenes are doubled by a stunt woman, and one I might add with a very respectable chest that would not disgrace Miss Russell herself. Directed by John Sturges.

This is a classic example of a very good trailer, selling (as it is designed to do) a rather poor feature, and it does that very successfully with captions like

UNDERWATER FURY!
UNDERWATER ADVENTURE!
UNDERWATER PARADISE!
UNDERWATER MADNESS!

Very good print and sound quality compliment this enjoyable trailer which is printed on Kodak's new Lo Fade' stock, said to be fade free for 50 years (better stock up on lots of lamps).

This item is well worth having to add to your collection of widescreen process's as it proudly sports the 'SuperScope' trademark. Recommended.
