Judge Reinhold made his name as a loveably dopey light comedian, so his casting here as a vicious corrupt policeman is a little hard to swallow.
That aside, this is a satisfyingly gritty crime thriller in which small-time crook Lou Diamond Phillips joins forces with journalist Rachel Ticotin to find the crooked cops who murdered his brother.
Writer/director Jimmy Huston handles the action and suspense with aplomb, and even finds a role for screen legend Rita Moreno.
