The Avengers was a series ahead of its time. Originally called Police Surgeon, and  starring Ian Hendry, with Steed as a man from ??. Following Hendry's departure, and a name change to The Avengers. The first series starred Patrick MacNee Honor Blackman, and was shot on video.
The episodes below are from the complete series featuring Mrs. Peel (Diana Rigg) and were filmed on 35mm black & white film, later moving into colour. Here in the UK we were unable to see them in colour until a few years later.
Far superior to the big screen version.  Of course Patrick MacNee & Diana Rigg are Steed & Mrs. Peel.

The Avengers - Complete Emma Peel Mega...
We have selected the double dvd sets, as we feel these offer the best value for your money. Pity the extras on each disc are sparse. Some behind the scenes footage would have been great bonus, as would some of the publicity material that must still exist somewhere.
Overall though very good releases, well worth buying. They will all find their way into The Reel Image Collection.
