Movietone News takes us to the first open day at Pinewood. We are taken on a tour of the sets and told a little of the history of the studio.
The cars from "Bugsy Malone" are on show and we see the then latest 007 picture "The Spy Who Loved Me" being shot. The set was specially built at the cost of a million pounds, the most expensive in the world at the time.
Also seen are a selection of costumes from various films. Lional Jeffries is on a set filming "Wombling Free" (what ever happened to that film? Editor) Perhaps surprisingly, due to the subject matter of this news reel, I didn't find it that entertaining. I felt the producer could have got a lot more from the event, instead of the rather uninteresting subjects he dishes out.
Excellent print and sound. Derann have recently re-released this item.
