BOB HOPE WITH JUDY GARLAND

"This command performance is governed by your letters" the announcer tells his audience. For this is a filmed edition for the Army/Navy screen magazine of "Command Performance USA".

We are informed that a master recording is made of each show and sent out to army stations throughout the world.

On stage Bob Hope tells a few jokes and introduces Betty Hutton who sings "Murder He Say's". Bob then brings on Lana Turner to fulfill a request from two G.I's to hear a steak sizzle. This is brought on under an armed guard.

Finally Bob introduces Judy Garland to sing "Over The Rainbow". He signs of~ himself by rendering "Thanks For The Memory" in a version that salutes America's Allies.

An entertaining reel from a show recorded weekly for the troops during World War Two with lively performances from the stars.

A clean print, no scratches, but let down by the definition, which is on the soft side.

The sound though is very good. Catalogue running time is listed as 10 minutes, but this version is 13 minutes, nice to find a film running for longer than the stated time.
