1935 Vintage Technicolor. musical number featuring Eddie Cantor and a young Ethel Merman surrounded by a bevy of beautiful chorus girls ad hundreds of chocolate-hungry kids!
Bright and breezy musical number in the style of Willy Wonker and the Chocolate Factory and originally the climax to a B&W feature in which the film blossomed into colour for the final reel, in which, Cantor having come into a large fortune builds a chocolate-cum-ice-cream factory and throws the doors open to the local kids.
The definition and colour are reasonable, bearing in mind it's early Technicolor origins - there wasn't an awful lot of Technicolor around in 1935, so this release is quite rare on Super 8. The sound was very good on our review copy. A most unusual and charming item and highly recommended. Despite the era it has come from, and taking into consideration it's sweet-factory theme, I should have thought this might go down rather well with the kids - although I hope they behave better than those in the film!
