THE DEADLY MANTIS

Craig Stevens
William Hopper
Directed by: Nathan Juran

A gigantic flying, praying Mantis is terrorising the world, can it be destroyed?

Great entertainment for lovers of 50's horror movies, and with virtually all the plot gone it's action all the way.

Listen out for the interesting score by Joseph Gershenson*, it's highly effective and strongly reminiscent of Gyorgy Ligeti's brilliant music used in 2001.

Print quality is basically good, being sharp and well graded.

The overall effect however, is slightly let down by some poor quality library footage.

*A correction to the original review

The author refers to the great score by Joseph Gershenson.  Gershenson was just the conductor. The music was composed by my friend Irving Gertz and William Lava.

Best regards,

David Schecter
